HEROES OF YPRES General Cousins decorates Naval Fusiliers at Paris, who are famous for their splendid resistance at Ypres. General decorating officers in a line, including a Moroccan who has to be supported by someone behind him. Biplane in background behind crowds (51ft). WAR WEDDING ROMANCE The marriage of Sir John Lees and Miss M. Pelly at St Peter's, Eaton Square. The bride's sister married Sir John Lees' brother who was killed in the Dardanelles. Arrival of bride and her father. Departure of bride and groom and guests (58ft). FLOODS IN THE VALLEY Many of the roads in the Windsor district are flooded owing to the heavy rains and winds during the past week. Flood notice. Horse-drawn wagon passing down flooded country road. Pony trap passes by the other way. Soldier and second man crossing stile. Horse and cart moving across flooded countryside (59ft). GERMAN BLUFF Part of the film issued by the German Government to Neutral Nations illustrates the 'kindness' of the Hun soldier to the Belgian women and children. Of course this scene is carefully acted for the camera. A Belgian family (parents and two girls) is met on the road by two German soldiers. One inspects the papers of the father and the other makes friends with the two girls and gives them something (chocolate?). The family then pass along their way (34ft). THE HUN'S CONSCIENCE The murderers of Nurse Cavell deem it necessary to show how they are regarded by the inhabitants of the countries they have invaded. 'A guilty conscience needs no accusing'. A Belgian woman, her husband and small daughter come out of their house with a German soldier who gives them assurances and chalks a message in German (stating that the people living there are 'good people') on the outside of the door, with the admiring approval of the family (73ft). Note: The two Belgian items above are clearly staged and use actors (different ones for each item)
