The film shows the manufacturing of clay wares. The master potter presented in the film is a farmer, who practises his craft primarily during fall and winter, after the fields have been cultivated. The camera observes the master potter at his house, and presents the walls decorated with pottery. In the following, the production process of pottery is shown. We see how clay is extracted, elutriated, kneaded, formed into strands and eventually cut into convenient pieces. The clay is shaped into a vessel at the potter's wheel, the potter's hands are shown in close-up working the clay. Handles are attached to the high vessels. Colours are prepared and different possibilities for colouring the ware are shown. After the vessels are covered in glaze coatings, they are left to dry for a while before being fired in the kiln. The packaging of the finished wares for transport represents the final step of the production process. Beyond regular pottery, the film also shows the application of plaster moulds and the painting of ceramic wares. The film closes with shots of finished ceramic wares.

The film is divided into the following parts:

Extraction of clay / Elutriation of clay / Vessels are drying in the open air / Handles are attached / Colours are prepared / Priming with coloured wet clay and additional painting / Glazing / Different regions - different wares / Studio pottery / Uses of plaster moulds
