The film describes the treatment of parkinson disease and recommends the use of Madopar (a medicine produced by Roche). It adresses doctors, and especially family doctors, to show them that the help of a specialist is no longer needed in this treatment, thanks to the developments made by Roche in Basel.
First we learn that the parkinson disease concerns one in thousend people. We see the concrete effects of this illness on the human body. We also get a summary of the history of the treatment, from the first scientific text written in 1817 by James Parkinson, until now. The different medications used over time are described, just as the reasons of their failure.
The film alternates between scientific explanations of that kind (often thanks to animation), and a fictional consultation at a family doctor's. There, we follow a patient in the discovery of his disease. The doctor asks him to make specific movements and actions (walk, write his name, take out his jacket, etc.) At the end of the consultation, the doctor prescribes Madopar, he explains the patient how often pills he has to take and how many. After a few weeks, the results the patient is another man: he can make the movements without any problem and even goes fishing. Some other similar examples of recovery are shown.
