An educational film that shows in quiet shots a certain kind of steel production in an (electric) arc oven. An occasional voice-over explains the basic steps of the process.

The film starts with the production of the necessary heat and the melting of the ore. It goes on to show how machines and workers have their share in sustaining the cooking and leading it towards the desired end result, through the addition of certain substances to eliminate others and through the checking of samples.
