Independent educational processes in day-care children, ways of support and individual help are shown and put forward to discussion by means of short studies in camera ethnography. Condensed scenes and collages of the everyday life in a Berlin day-care centre show a quite uncommon educational approach: child care workers observe children on their playground and discuss their observations in weekly meetings in order to find ways for individual assistance. The camera closely watches the children: how they learn when they play and construct, when they practise or try out, when they arrange with each other, negotiate rules and roles and when they watch and observe. This watching and observing of the children is discovered to be a quiet but engaged activity fostered by a comfortable atmosphere.
