Match between the English Football League and the Irish League. Main title (00.08). MLS
game in progress. Play filmed from behind Ireland's goal-mouth. Keeper saves a goal. To the left
of the goal-mouth is a brick building (industrial?) and spectators behind a wooden fence (00.32).
Game mid-field. Shots of main stand crowded with spectators (00.400. Officials, led by a Lord
Mayor with chain of office, come on to pitch. The Mayor, holding a stick, leads the way as the
the teams run on. First is the Ireland team wearing dark shirts with a shamrock emblem and white
shorts; the captain holds the ball. England follow wearing white shirts with sleeves rolled up. A
suited man (referee?) carries the ball (1.34). MLS Ireland team formally posed for camera, the
front row seated (1.47). Game in progress. Behind the stands at one side of the pitch is some
tall crane-like machinery (cargo handling equipment?) (2.07mins). Note: The film is edited out of
order of the sequence of events and is very underexposed and the few signs not legible. The
Ardwick Empire appearing on the title scratched on the film is in Manchester and presumably where
the film was exhibited.
