The film first respond shortly to dam projects, which should improve the water supply in the desert of Sudan. The main part of the film shows nomads in the desert who are procuring water during the dry month. The water is lifted from a 72 meter deep well with a leathery bag. Fetching water is a task which has to be done by several nomadic families together, because there is no mechanical support. As a result, procuring water is not a daily task. The raised water is used for watering the cattle and for the store of water in waterskins. If the leathery bag get stuck in the well, someone has to climb down the well on a rope. The film ends with a final accent on the necessity of a improved water supply in this region.
