cavalry and police process down wide, crowd-lined street. Factory chimneys in background Four
white horses pulls carriage bearing Lord Mayor and bewigged civic dignitary, followed by other
carriages. Sign for Exchange Station [Manchester] seen. Followed by huge file of policeman and
crowds cheering at camera. Further views of cheering crowds - some on horse buses (2.18). Note:
Lord Roberts is not discernible. Lord Roberts was one of the most famous military figures of the
Boer War. Known as 'Bobs'. Rival of Sir Redvers Buller who replaced him after heavy defeats to
