A filmed portrait, made to commemorate the 100th anniversary (3 January 1976) of the birth of Wilhelm Pieck, the first president of the GDR, a pioneer of democratic antifascist and socialist development in the GDR. The film describes his political activity as a leader of the German working-class movement in their struggle against fascism and war, for peace, friendship among the peoples, democracy and social progress.
