The brown precipitation membrane of copper hexacyanoferrate which forms in 4% copper sulphate solution around a crystal of potassium hexacyanoferrate II is semipermeable and slightly elastic. The membrane "grows" through the osmotic absorption of water from the surrounding solution. Slight time-lapse (taken from film C 1454).
