First, we see a swimming competition in Wettingen. There is diving, then different categories of swimming. We also get to see the spectators.
In the second part, we see the world fair of Brussel. The filmmaker concentrates on the Atomium and on the visitors. A few buildings are shown, both inside and outside the fair, so that we get a few hints of the belgian architecture.
Then we go to the University celebration in Basel. We mainly see the procession with well-dressed people.
The next part is also very similar: we see the carnaval in Basel. Many people are united to see the procession, and soon people come in beautiful clothes.
Frei also goes to an athletism competition, where he films the usual different sports.
In the autumn fair in Basel, parents buy balloons and candies for their children. The filmmaker then shows the numerous different carousels on the fair.
Finally, Walter Frei visits Art Basel 1970 and films the works of art, just as the other visitors. He shows a special interest for the sculptures of Tinguely and Niki de Saint Phalle.
