This unit film shows the systematic examination of the abdominal cavity which immediately follows the "autopsy" (Part II). This act of post-mortem begins with the thickness of the abdominal wall being determined. There follow: exposure of the small intestine, inspection of portions of the retroperitoneum and the small pelvis, removal of ascites, palpation of the diaphragm, palpation and inspection of the epigastrium organs including the ductus cysticus and vena portae, opening of the bursa omentalis with an inspection of the pancreas, palpation of the intestine. Lastly palpation of the hernial openings is shown.
