The film investigates Sorbian identity in Upper Lusatia between cultural contact and cultural conflict. The Sorbs in the Catholic influenced region between Bautzen, Kamenz and Hoyerwerda do not only speak two languages, they rather act in heterogeneous cultural areas. The resulting cultural contact can be fruitful for both sides, but may also lead to cultural loss on the Sorbian side. The film deals with with the unconscious and conscious strategies of the Sorbs to keep their traditional culture and living despite the both inevitable and wanted contact to their German neighbours and their own dual national indentity.
