Initially normal cells are shown in the light field and then a view of a chromatophore in interference contrast. One can observe the normally strong protoplasma patterns at the edge of the cells respectively between the ridges of the chromatophores. The second part of the film is devoted to cytomorphological studies of the centrifuged cells. Here the centripetal part is either completely free of plastidial substance or, as is more common, there are here one or two pale green blister type formations. In the plasma coating of the part of the cell free of chromatophores, in particular above the "blisters" one can see elements of the endoplasmatic reticulum in the phase contrast. Pattern and shape of these elements are subjected to constant alteration by the plasma flow.
