The film gives an impression of the life of the last European nomads. As outsiders to society they live in trailers and barracks at the edge of town or on the road. The camera takes a look inside the trailers, where life takes place in the most narrow space. The film shows children playing together or by themselves. Meanwhile, the grown-ups try to make some money; be it with trading horses, as fortunetellers, through palm reading or begging in the streets. Later, the men play cards or dice. Sometimes, wild arguments break out and lead to fights joined by the women. In contrast, cheerful festivities and folk dances are shown.
