The Great Petitionary Prayer is one of the principal feasts of Tibetan Buddhism. At Lhasa it was held from the 4th to the 25th day of the first (lunar) month. In exile the Tibetans celebrate it in a simplified and abbreviated form, as at Dharamsala, the place of residence of the Dalai Lama. The film presents excerpts from the proceeding of the 15th day of the 1st month, the day of full moon, which is the climax of the feast.
