This film shows natural childbirth as a psychosomatic process. The pictures were taken in a hospital in Amsterdam. A midwife has the supervision and there is no physician, no obstetrician and no anaesthesist who has anything to do with this delivery. The father is present during the whole process of labour and childbirth. The film pays much attention to the emotional events of both parents and shows them as the most important people of the scene. The midwife plays a very important role by encouraging the mother, who is the most active working person.
