Documentation about Constantinople from the foundation of Imperator Constantine to the invasion of the Ottoman.
Constantinople was build as the second capital of the Roman Empire and developed to an important centre for the world marked between the western and the eastern world (for example spices, silk and carpeting).
The geographical position and the increase of the city its shown schematically, also the original construction of the surrounding walls for the defence of the city. This walls and other historical buildings are still (partially) existing.
In those days were the infrastructure for basic services (like nourishment and water) already existing.
The film shows the churches of the then Christian city with the typical mosaics for that time. Often the motives are Christ and the Emperors with their wives.
Other buildings were converted to sports facilities or gardens.
The film ends with the Invasion of the Ottoman 1453. Constantinople became capital of the Ottoman Empire and became Muslim.
