The threat and fighting behaviour of the "wart"-crab Eurynome aspera (Majidae) shows similar characteristics as of the other Majidae. The chelae-forward posture is seen as threat behaviour; both claws are stretched out towards the opponent. One type of altercation is ritualized. The chelipeds are stretched out laterally and horizontally as the opponents try to lay the inner side of the chelipeds exactly on each other and then push each other away. It can also come to gripping and hugging each other.
