During summer the merino sheeps of New Zealand live far away from the farm on pasture land in the mountains. In this time the shepherds prepare themselfs for the round up. They break in horses and train their dogs to shepherd dogs. The sheeps live freely in the wild, there are no fences. The shepherds fetch their sheeps in Autumn just before the first snow and bring them back to the valley. The shepherds have to find and round more then 10'000 sheeps. Together they are going back, a trip which can last several days. The men spend the night in a cottage and cook over an open fire. Back on the farm they wash and count the sheeps.
