The film shows the changes on polished and on polished and etched surfaces of globular grey cast iron (GGG-50) under tensile stress. A specially developed sample, with large radius and two opposite notches, is bi-directionally and evenly stretched on a special tensile machine. The worst deformation occurs at the smallest cross-section of the sample, where the changes can also be microscopically observed. The stretch behaviour in the elastic and plastic range until the breaking of the sample is filmed. As a result of the 3 phase construction of GGG-50, the individual components of the structure react very differently to the strain. The shed, globular graphite acts as 'micronotch'; the plastic deformation occurs, preferably, in the ferritic structure, and in the perlite is the formation of buckles, folding, vein formation, and distortion. The break occurs spontaneously after the above, well visible deformation.
