He wanted western currency and reunification as soon as possible and as the year began planned to go west himself. A year later he is still in Leipzig on reduced work hours. - Sylvia is closing down her pub. Her husband has a job in Bavaria. She joins him after currency union. - Renate, a single- minded journalist, talks about her contacts with State Security, about responsibility and guilt. - Isabell is fourteen and at school. She weeps the day new currency is introduced. - John, immersed in punk squatter subculture, says neo-Nazis are inhuman and the only way to counter them is violence.
