"Thank you" - these were the words written by Sigmund Jähn - first German spaceman, and citizen of the GDR - on the landing module when he returned, from his successful mission together with Soviet spacemen. The mission was preceded by intensive preparation, joint training, eight days in space, followed by an enthusiastic reception in the GDR.
