Die Dekarboxylierung der Malonsäure treibt die Gesamtreaktion. Die Musterbildung bei der Aggregation der Amöben von Dictyostelium (Aufnahmen in Zusammenarbeit mit G. Gerisch, 1963) verläuft analog.
