Wird ein gleichmäßig gefärbtes Hühnerei rasch um sich selbst gedreht, kann der Eindruck eines "großen schwingenden Tropfen(s)", eines elastischen "Körper(s), der sich abwechselnd verlängert und verkürzt, ohne sich zu drehen" (Metzger 1975) entstehen. Dieses Beispiel der Umdeutung von Perspektivetransformation in Objekt-Deformation wurde von Mach 1886 gegeben und hier durch Schattendarstellung des Vorgangs ergänzt.
