On October 24, 1929, the stock market crashes, causing an economic crisis in Germany (and worldwide). The up to then relatively good economic situation in Germany is ruined. The result is wage cuts, strikes and finally unemployment. The need for and the demoralization (especially in the lowest population strata) of the rapidly growing unemployment army are increasing. These social tensions form the basis for national socialist politics.

The Reichstag, splintered in innumerable parties, failed: Hindenburg and the Cabinet of Brüning still ruled only with emergency decrees.

During the Reichstag elections in 1930 the bourgeois middle parties suffered considerable losses in favor of the radical antidemocratic forces. They stand between the KPD and its opponents, the NSDAP.
The members of the NSDAP (including Goring) enter the Reichstag demonstratively in their uniforms and make no secret of the fact that they have only one goal: the destruction of parliamentary democracy.

The global economic crisis plunges Germany into a political chaos; The public life is increasingly characterized by street battles and political murders. Here too, the NSDAP (especially Goebbels) uses the confused situation demagogically in their favor.

On October 11, 1931, the National Socialists, the German National People's Party, the Stahlhelm, and the All-German Federation founded the Habsburg front (at their head, among others, Hitler and Hess). The Social Democrats form the Iron Front as a counter-movement.

Meanwhile, the spiral of economic decay is rapidly breaking down: bankruptcies, bankruptcies and factory closures increase the number of unemployed persons to over 5 million (1931).

In order to curb the European fellowship, the US is using the Hoover moratorium to combat crises; In addition, the Lausanne Conference (1932) decided to remove most of the German reparations.

Reichskanzler Brüning achieved the re-election of Hindenburg in 1932, but the Reichstag election marked the emergence of the NSDAP as the strongest party.

The growing impotence of the republic is manifested in the rapid change of the governments: Brüning - von Papen - von Schleicher - Hitler.
The economic crisis has become a state crisis.
