Scenes at a football match. Replacement title (0.07). Slow pan right of the crowds -
all men, wearing bowler hats or flat caps (1.01) Scenes from the match. One team plays in
stripped shirts and dark shorts, the other in light tops and dark shorts. Most of the action
takes place at the light tops goal; there are a number of clearances from the goalmouth including
a header and on one occasion the ball hits the crossbar (2.09). The other goalmouth, the rather
portly goal keeper takes a goal kick. The ground is rather large with open terraces and
grandstands at either end. In the background are roofs of terraces housing (2.26mins). Note: The
Portly goal Keeper is William 'Fatty' Foulkes who was Sheffield United's international goalkeeper
who later played for Chelsea and Bradford City. Filmed at Bramall Lane in September 1902, the
twenty-stone goalkeeper helped his club to a 1-0 victory over Bury and was part of the FA Cup
Final Teams of 1899,1901 and 1902. Information provided by the National Fairground Archive based
