Various scenes at Birmingham University occasion. Replacement title (0.07). Procession
of University dignitaries in academic robes walks left to right past camera. The procession
includes two women (0.38). Views of the crowds and policemen on crowd duty (1.04). Policemen,
walking two abreast leaving the location followed by children looking at the camera (1.28).
Policemen, marching five abreast file past the camera in a courtyard (?) (2.06). MCU police
inspector (?) (2.10); he then marches past the camera (2.15). A boot black at work in a street
(2.23). Traffic and street scene with statue of Queen Victoria in the background - possibly
Victoria Square (2.31mns). Early 1900s saw the creation of 'redbrick' Universities of Leeds,
Sheffield and Birmingham. Shows middle-class women receiving their degrees from Chancellor Joseph
