International Gig Races at Cork International Regatta, held in Cork on 21th, 22nd July
1902. Crowds watch rowing race from river bank Replacement title (0.07) River. Crowds standing on
opposite bank and lines of trees behind them. Steam powered boat carrying people sails l-r. Pans
right with boat. (0.15) Another steam boat sits still in water (0.20) Two crews of eight and cox
can just be seen rowing r-l across bottom of view. (0.30) Two more crews of eight row across
screen in the opposite direction. In foreground another boat watches. Pans right, quickly, ahead
of the rowing boats and waits for the two crews to catch up then does it again. People in
foreground watching obscure the view periodically. Man in foreground waves hat at the boats and
camera turns so that the people adjacent come into shot. Well dressed men and women. They are too
close and out of focus. Large post also obscures the view of the river and boats. Several short,
unsteady shots and rapid movements of the camera, including a shot of only the hat in front.
Steam boat in foreground lets off steam. (2.20)
