Film following a route along Bradford streets, with various pedestrians (in a mix of
smart and more shabby dress), horse- drawn carts, bicycles and a tram. Main (replacement) title
(00.08). Shot up a street containing horse-drawn carts, tramlines, a man on a bicycle and
pedestrians. The camera moves slowly up the road past horse-drawn carts, houses and shops
(00.18). A workman on foot leads a horse and large cart (00.26). Cut. Four young women (3 in
boaters) pose for the camera. A man in a bowler hat talks to the women and they then part. The
women join four other men on the pavement (00.45). Pedestrians - including two workmen carrying
objects over their shoulders (00.54). The same four women as before stroll by in the road and the
camera follows two men in bowlers. A man with a hand-cart, carrying an axe over his shoulder is
in the background (01.11). Cut, and camera continues up the street (01.18). A man on a
donkey-drawn cart drives by (perched on the side of the cart), with a goods carriage turning into
the street behind him ('Clifton Stores' on the side) (01.30). Cut. An open-top tram with 88 on
the front lower half passes by (advert for 'Heatons' 'Dry Soap' on the front top half) (01.40).
An elderly man on a tricyle follows the tram, with a younger male cyclist behind him. Various men
and children pedestrians (02.00). Two men and two youngsters help control a small donkey-drawn
cart, whilst a boy pushing luggage (?) on a hand- trolley is in the background behind them.
Camera continues past a large house with walled grounds (02.09). A horse-drawn wagon half-covered
with a sheet, and a young female cyclist go by (02.15). Cuts to three women walking on pavement
who stop to talk briefly (outside a large house). Camera moves up road slowly past various men
and boys, man driving a horse and trap, and other horse and carts.(Large building in background
seen through trees and behind a wall running along the pavement) (02.41 minutes). Note: Ride from
the city centre, along Manningham Lane to the gates of Lister Park and beyond. Electric cars were
in the process of replacing the steam cars of Bradford Tramways & Omnibus Company, whose
