In summer 1988, African director Idrissa Ouedraogo was shooting his second feature film "Yabba". At that time the temperatures in Burkina Faso went up to 40 degrees in the shade. The production had been hindered by a number of incidents. Ritual offerings had to be performed repeatedly on the location of the set, and the director was constantly fearing the beginning of the rainy season... Senegalese author and director Djibril Diop Mambtey documents some days on the set. His special interest is the work of the director with two children and the over eighty year old woman playing Yaaba, a grandmother that had never before seen a film or a camera. This film is not only an exciting documentary on the production of "Yaaba". It also provides fascinating insight to the living conditions in a Burkina Faso village.
