As soon as the young green turtles (Chelonia mydas) have left the shells they dig themselves out of the nesting hole with efficient movements. They rush down the beach to the shore and swim off. At the shore some seagulls catch some of the young ones and try to devoure them. Once fallen on its back a young turtle can turn again easily. Whilst running the turtles move forelegs and hind legs alternatively, swimming they beat their forelegs synchronically and stretch their hind legs plainly backwards.
