This film describes the process of the social emancipation of women in the course of the construction of socialism in the German Democratic Republic. Several women - a worker in a cotton spinning mill, a cooperative farmer, a town architect and town planner, a graphic artist and women delegates to a congress - are presented as examples of the position women hold in socialist society. Women are shown at their place of work and give their opinions on important questions of our day.
