The Zikr of the Melâmî Dervishes resembles the Zikr of the Chalvetî Dervishes (see Film E 1968) with minor differences: After a formalized religious "dialogue" between the precentor and the Sheikh the participants perform the actual Zikr. It includes the repetition of the word God (hû) along with an il- âhî (religious hymn) in Albanien. Occasionally the precentor interrupts the prayer with the recitation of religious formulare. The prayer is accompanied by rocking movements, and ends with the exclamation "Hû" (God).
