Innhold

Kostas Varnalis was born in Burgas (formerly eastern Rumelia), Bulgaria. He worked as a school teacher and subscribed to the Demotic movement. While in Paris on a scholarship he was introduced into dialectical materialism. He wrote iconoclastic poetry under the pen name D. Tanalias. Together with Dimitris Glinos, he was exiled to the island of Aï Stratis. His works broached certain problems in theoretical and practical aspects of revolutionary and avant-garde poetics. A great number of people attended his funeral.
